Keep Chrome. Fix the tabs.

Ledge names your Chrome windows and adds a second row where every tab is readable — inside the Chrome you already use. No new browser, no account, nothing synced.

Why Ledge

Chrome shrinks your tabs. Ledge spreads them out.

01 · Named windows

Every window says what it’s for.

Give windows a name and a color — “Client · Nike”, “Personal”, “Research”. A small capsule in Chrome’s tab strip shows it, and one click opens a menu of all your windows. Names and colors come back after a restart.

  • Switch in one click from the tab strip
  • ⌃⌥1–9 jumps to a window from any app
  • Rename and recolor in place

02 · The second row

Every tab readable, none squeezed.

Swipe down on the tab strip and a second row unfolds right below it: every tab with its full title, tab groups as columns in Chrome’s own colors. Drag a tab into another group, or drag a whole group — Chrome’s strip follows.

  • Tab groups as columns, in strip order
  • Drag tabs and groups; Chrome updates
  • Type to filter, arrows and ↵ to go

03 · Parking and tidy

Idle tabs step aside on their own.

Tabs you haven’t touched in a while leave the strip and wait under “Parked” — one click brings them back, search still finds them. Tidy closes duplicates and groups the rest by site, with undo.

  • Park after 30 min to 1 day, or off
  • Never pinned, grouped or playing tabs
  • One-click tidy, one-click undo

Why not just…

Every other fix asks you to leave something behind.

A new browser, a new tab strip, an account, a popup you have to open. Ledge asks for none of that.

Why not Chrome’s own vertical tabs?

Vertical tabs turn the strip into a list, and you give up the strip you know. Chrome can name a window, but the name only shows in the macOS Window menu. Ledge keeps your strip and adds to it: the name is right there, and a second row shows every tab.

Why not switch to Arc or Vivaldi?

Vivaldi even has a second row of tabs. But it means a different browser: new habits, new extensions, new logins. Ledge lives inside the Chrome you already use, and every move happens in Chrome’s real tab strip.

Why not Workona?

Workona is great for project workspaces and teams, synced through an account and the cloud. Ledge is for the windows open on your Mac right now: local, no account, no sync, one-time price.

Why not a tab-list extension?

Popups like Tab Manager Plus or OneTab list your tabs, but you have to go and open them. Ledge sits in the tab strip itself, so the window name and the second row are one click or one swipe away.

Honest take: if you need tabs synced across devices or shared with a team, Workona is the better pick.

Ten colors, one rule

Colors chosen by math, not by mood.

Every window color has the same perceived lightness and the same saturation in OKLCH — hues sit 40° apart on the wheel. None shouts, none disappears, on a light toolbar or a dark one. New windows pick colors far apart from the last, so neighbours never blur together.

Questions

Does it work with my existing Chrome?+

Yes. Ledge is a Chrome extension plus a tiny Mac helper. It doesn’t replace Chrome’s tabs — it adds to them, and everything you do in Ledge (moving, grouping, pinning) happens in Chrome’s real tab strip.

What does it know about my browsing?+

Only what it needs to draw your tabs, and it never leaves your Mac. No account, no servers, no analytics. The helper needs no Accessibility, Screen Recording or Input Monitoring permission.

Does it work with Chrome’s vertical tabs?+

Ledge is built for Chrome’s classic horizontal tab strip. Vertical tabs aren’t supported yet.

Windows or Linux?+

Mac first. The extension half already works everywhere; the in-strip capsule and second row are Mac-only for now.

What will it cost?+

The extension — names, colors, switcher, tidy — is free. Ledge Pro (the capsule, the second row, parking and drag-and-drop) will be a one-time purchase, with an early price for the waitlist.
